This isn't change we can believe in.
I predict: Without the public option, any reform will accomplish only half measures, and then the opponents who are responsible for the half measures will shout, "We told you it wouldn't work!" They pull this trick every time. As my brother says, "No matter how cynical I get, I just can't keep up."
